A Great Recycling Resource: Earth911®
I was given a new DVD player for Christmas, as mine had died. Not wanting to place it into the complex’s trashcan, as our trash goes to a landfill, I researched online for a place to recycle the dead DVD player. I began with my neighborhood City of Westminster website, which lists places that take old computers and electronics–for a fee, or are too far away.
I went to http://earth911.com/ which came up in Google®, simply typed in “DVD Player” in the “Find Recycling Centers for” box, typed in my zip code in the “Near” box, and received pages of places that take broken DVD players. The first on the list is Best Buy, who will take broken electronics and cell phones, for a fee.
Looking further down the list, I found places in my neighborhood that do not charge a fee.
