After five years of R&D, San Francisco start-up Green Horizon has begun shipping a portable, self-sufficient emergency response system called the CSU (Central Service Unit). The CSU operates without any supporting infrastructure, providing communications, water, and power.
Electric cars…are also incredibly silent – a feature which advertisers market as a selling point but which in fact could be considered a design flaw…
I am sure everyone has been frustrated with water saving shower heads at one time or another. You know, the ones you struggle just to get wet under, or just feel like a mist, leaving you longing for the full stream water wasters that your drain couldn’t keep up with. Luckily those days are over and good engineering has resulted in some great water saving shower heads that feel like a downpour.
…other than reusing an existing site, the twin aims of this renovation were to conserve water and save energy by employing a multitude of strategies on a budget of $95 per square foot.
Dubbed “Vicky”, the lamp uses a special bulb that provides increased light in the blue spectrum, which helps the plants grow. The designer sees the lamp not only as a source of light but also as a resource for growing food in urban environments that lack space for a garden.
