Food Prices Are More Expensive: Food Costs More?

Posted by carrie_roll

Food prices are more expensive. There’s no question about it.

The explanation they offer at the end of this video is completely lame.
Global grocery costs are more expensive because the rest of the world is beginning to eat more like America?
(Does that mean the rest of the world is getting fatter like America? Actually, statistically speaking, that’s somewhat true.)
However, as far as a “food shortage”, that explanation doesn’t make any sense to me and sounds ridiculously America-centric.
It’s much more likely that news of food shortages is fueling people’s fears and turning the actual problem (of rising oil prices making food more expensive) into a much bigger issue than it actually is.
This is an imbalance in the system (Industrialized nations’ overuse of oil and the middle east’s stranglehold on the distribution and production methods) going through a correction.
So, instead of just complaining about the issue, and/or being scared because of what the “news” says, what can YOU do about it?

  • Plant a garden.
  • Learn to cook your food using the sun and heat your home using renewable energy sources.
  • Drive your car less.
  • And about 500 other things that we talk about here on this site and in our new book.

At least they’re reporting the truth that seed sales are up because some proactive people are planting gardens
