Getting to the Bottom of Green Potty Products

Find out our recommendations for going green with your potty training – from pants to potty chairs – we have suggestions.
It’s tough trying to raise my family to be more environmentally conscious when it comes time for potty training. After all, with school, play dates and running here, there and everywhere, this busy mom also needs Eco-friendly AND convenience in my potty training products. It took some research, but there are environmentally friendly alternatives to using Huggies®, Pull Ups®, or Pampers Easy Ups®. There are also many Eco-friendly alternatives for potty training, potty training hygiene, and skin care products for your child.
Get it “Wipe” with Green Baby Wipes
There are several environmentally friendly baby wipes available. They may be hard to find in the store, but you can find them online at sites such as Amazon® or Diapers.com. Consider using Elements Natural® baby wipes, which are 100% compostable and biodegradable. Another Eco-friendly baby wipe option is Seventh Generation®, which may be found in many stores.
The White Idea-Green Baby Powder
When searching for an environmentally sound baby powder, look for all natural ingredients and no talc. By eliminating the talc from baby powders, baby powders from companies such as California Baby®, Seventh Generation®, and Burt’s Bees® means the baby AND parent can breathe a whole lot easier – not only from the all natural ingredients, but also because there is less powder for you and your child to inhale.
Make your Diaper Creams a Dream
Look for diaper creams that have paraben, are fragrance-free, and ones that use all natural, sustainable ingredients. You may have to do some label reading, or you can use tried and true environmentally friendly diaper rash creams like those made by Burt’s Bees®, Jason’s Earths Best®, and California Baby®.
Consider A+ Accident Protection
There are training pants on the market that are made from non-chlorine materials, and some that cause a lot less waste in the environment. Training pants such as Kushies®, Seventh Generation®, Nature Babycare® Eco Pull on Pants, and Nappies® offer non-chlorine and machine washable training pants made from cotton as Eco-friendly and convenient alternatives to Pull Ups® and other toxic brands.
Planet Friendly Potty Chair
Now, this was my favorite! Instead of purchasing a Dora the Explorer® or Disney Princess® potty, consider the ECOpotty®, which is only $13.00 and made from bamboo waste and corn husks. Once you are done using this potty chair, you can bury the seat in the garden to decompose, instead of dumping it in a landfill.
As we grow green children, as green-conscious parent’s, let’s think about the products we use every day and try to find safe, healthy, and Eco-friendly alternatives for our children. In some cases, they may cost more, but they will also be worth the savings to our health and our planet.
