Kinetic Wave Sculptures From Recycled Materials
Posted by carrie_roll
Fair warning… This video starts off loud, so turn your volume down a little bit.
Focusing on natural elements like a discrete water droplet or a powerful ocean eddy, his work is elegant and hypnotic.
(It’s also amazing to me how much math goes into his art.)
Also, the video ends with a sort of cheesy but simple explanation of how ocean waves could power our future.
Reuben Margolin, a Bay Area (San Francisco, California) visionary and longtime maker, creates totally singular techno-kinetic wave sculptures.
Using everything from wood to cardboard to found and salvaged objects, Reubens artwork is diverse, with sculptures ranging from tiny to looming, and from motorized to hand-cranked.

Hey Henry! Thanks for the comment, and the suggestion. We’ll keep that in mind for future posts… One thing you can try is to play the video, click pause, and then come back to the video a few minutes later. This should help.
However, as a matter of regular practice, adding pictures to a video post is not something I would have thought about, but I think it’s an excellent suggestion.
THanks Henry!

What does everyone else think about these sculptures? -
I think these are really cool. One thing… your link to his site doesn’t seem to be working though.
Hullo,
Thank you for the Video. I ‘guess’ it good. However the internet speed back here in Uganda is far too slow to display a thing!
I’m sorry for the inconvenience but would request that you send along some Pictures to cater for some of us who are interested but ‘unable’.
Thank you.
