Moreover, ipek, biodegradable plastics might reduce the plastic waste, but they definitely will add to the usage of a non renewable resource--oil.
So you know what, (i know it's not practical), we should give up going to stores at all, and we should grow our own stuff, and make our own stuff with the stuff we grow without any machines.. *confused*

Giving up plastic shopping bags does reduce a whole lot of plastic, but there is still a large amount of plastic used for packaging foodstuff, chips, soaps and shampoos and even toothbrushes!
What are we gonna do about those?
And ipek, biodegradable plastic seems like a good idea, but if it degrades when it comes to touch with soil, can we be sure it just won't degrade when we're using it?

Totally agree on what is written above, except the fact that some plastic bags are indeed degradable and biodegradable, moreover, the cost of making a plastic product degradable is only 1% of its actual production cost. You may have more information on http://www.epi-global.com if you are interested.
I find this technology very useful and I honestly think that it is the only solution for us if we want a greener world.
It is also a fact that plastic bags are quite lighter in weight when compared to paper bags that require more carriage cost in other words produce more greenhouse gases per piece. Therefore if we can produce biodegradable plastics and lawfully make the producers manufacture only these plastics then we may do some good for us and future generations.
