The Pickens Plan for Reducing Dependence on Foreign Oil
Posted by carrie_roll
A member of the GreenJoyment community, Ross Boger, told us about the Pickens Plan. (Thanks Ross!)
We hadn’t heard of it, and it seems like rather a good idea to us.
Watch the video below to learn more about what T. Boone Pickens would like to see happen in America as an energy plan for the next 10 years.
You can join or learn more about the Pickens Plan here.
What do you think? Will the Pickens Plan work?
Is the Pickens Plan a realistic energy plan? Is what’s been put forth by T Boone Pickens a possibility? It requires a lot of vehices be converted to natural gas consumption. Is this energy plan something that can be achieved in just 10 years?

Answer to Kathleen Fogarty…….
Natural gas is a cleaner burning source then oil and gasoline is. basically, natural gas is cleaner. It is a good idea -
Natural Gas is a very viable possibility. It’s close to Propane in the BTU range and makes a viable fuel. The main issue is storage. Like propane it has to be compressed under high pressure. That is the real issue with it. The University of
Colorado is doing major research into a cell system to run Natural Gas. They are currently running it in most of the city maintenance vehicles. To use it though you have to compress it. That costs money. If the cost of gas stays up it is a very viable fuel source for cars and even trucks. Last I heard the University had developed a carbon cell system made out of baked corn cobs that they could put a charge on and it would absorb about three times the normal amount of natural gas. Buy reversing the charge the gas would be released. That could possible resolve the storage and high pressures needed to use Natural Gas. Motors would last three times as long requiring less oil changes and the list goes on and on. Everything positive. Unforunately it has to make someone money, as we know greed is the route to all evil. We may never see it unless someone with enough money and power can get it out.

Stupid question…What’s the difference between natural gas and oil.
